Kinetic Kids & Hammer Helps Team Up to Keep Every Kid in the Game

When a child puts on a team jersey for the first time, something powerful happens. They’re no longer on the sidelines; they’re part of something bigger. At Kinetic Kids, that feeling is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re excited to share how our new partnership with Hammer Helps, Jim Adler & Associates is helping even more children experience it.

Who We Are: Sports, Arts & Community for Kids with Special Needs

Kinetic Kids exists so that children with physical and developmental disabilities can participate in sports, fine arts, and educational programs that are designed just for them. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children with special needs and their families by building courage, confidence, fitness, pride, joy and community through adaptive activities.

What began in 2001 as a single t-ball team of 12 children has grown into hundreds of year-round programs serving thousands of young athletes across San Antonio and surrounding communities, with expanding programs in Austin, Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth.

From baseball, swimming, wheelchair basketball and track, to dance, music, art and more, every Kinetic Kids program is tailored so that children of all abilities can participate at their own pace. A pediatric-trained therapist is on site at every program, alongside coaches and one-on-one volunteers, to ensure safety, encourage success and give parents the rare gift of sitting on the sidelines to simply cheer.

Shining a Spotlight: Hammer Helps & Jim Adler & Associates

This year, Kinetic Kids is honored to be featured as a Hammer Helps partner through Jim Adler & Associates, a Texas personal injury law firm known as “The Texas Hammer®.”

Hammer Helps is the firm’s community giving program, launched in 2021 to expand decades of charitable work and support nonprofits across Texas. Since its start, Hammer Helps has donated well over $100,000 to more than 20 organizations, including programs serving children with special needs, food banks, animal rescues, and more.

For Kinetic Kids, this partnership means more than a generous financial contribution. Through social media spotlights, video storytelling, and outreach, Hammer Helps and Jim Adler & Associates are using their platform to:
Introduce our athletes and families to a wider audience
Share the impact of adaptive sports and fine arts
Invite the community to support inclusive programming

We are grateful to Jim Adler & Associates for choosing to stand alongside our athletes, on and off the field, as we work to ensure that every child has a chance to play, create and belong.

If you or someone you know has been seriously injured and needs legal guidance, our partners at Jim Adler & Associates, personal injury lawyers, can help injured Texans understand their rights and pursue compensation so they can focus on healing.

Why Inclusive Programs Matter

Children with disabilities are far more likely to face barriers to physical activity and team sports, which can lead to isolation and secondary health issues. Adaptive sports and recreation change that story. Research and family feedback show that participation in Kinetic Kids programs helps children:
Improve strength, coordination, and overall fitness
Build confidence and independence
Make friends and practice social skills
Experience the pride of setting and reaching goals

Parents often tell us that the biggest difference isn’t just physical, it’s emotional. Their kids stand taller, smile bigger and begin to see themselves as athletes, artists and teammates rather than defined by a diagnosis.

To help keep programs accessible, Kinetic Kids offers full and partial scholarships so that no child is turned away for financial reasons. Donors and partners like Hammer Helps make it possible for us to subsidize the real cost of programs and continue growing into new communities.

How You Can Support Kinetic Kids

Partnerships like Hammer Helps are a powerful reminder that it takes a whole community to keep kids moving. If you’re inspired by this collaboration, here are a few ways you can get involved:
Donate: Your gift helps us provide adaptive sports, fine arts and educational programs for children with special needs all year long.
Volunteer: From on-field buddies to event support, volunteers are essential in creating safe, fun experiences for every athlete.
Refer a Family: If you know a child with special needs who dreams of being on a team or trying a new activity, share Kinetic Kids with their family.
Spread the Word: Follow Kinetic Kids on social media, share stories from our Press & News section, and help us reach more parents, teachers, therapists and healthcare providers.

Moving Forward Together

We are deeply thankful to Hammer Helps and Jim Adler & Associates for helping us tell the stories of our athletes and for investing in a future where every child, regardless of ability, has a place to play, grow, and shine.

With community partners, dedicated families, and resilient kids leading the way, we’ll keep asking the same question that started it all more than two decades ago: Why not?

Why not give every child the chance to cross a finish line, score a goal, or take a bow on stage?

At Kinetic Kids, with your help, the answer is simple: we can, and we will.
